Always Check Your Face

What’s Jack up to? Jack is now Jack the reluctant snow dog. This weekend we had our first big storm of the season and Jack being the dog that really enjoys his comfort now has to be bribed off the porch to go out for his walks. As if it's fun for me.

You would have thought it was the end of the world to hear it from the newscasters and to see the lines and carts at the grocery stores. Really people the roads would be clear in a day. But the worst was when I went into our local hardware store to buy some ice melt and walked smack dab into a TV interview on the storm. Quick- camera turns to me looking a hot mess and the reporter asking me what I thought about the upcoming storm. Gah!

I answer the questions like a big old ding (not so good on the fly) then I return to the car and my waiting husband to yell and him for not going into the store instead of me. After my rant I ask, how do I look? I already know it’s not good. I have on no face makeup except mascara and hair is a mess under my Yankee cap. He gives me a long look and says fine... except for the lipstick on my teeth. Gah again!!

Cut to 5:00 where I make my tri-state New York debut looking worse than Baby Jane.

Lesson here: Always check your face before leaving the car/house. You never know when a mean newsman will shove a camera in your face and not even tell you that you have gunk on your teeth. I mean a heads up would have been nice. Seriously.

Best,
Kwana

Maybe they airbrushed the interview, right???

Don't you worry...you're famous..that's all that counts. Enjoy your moment of fame.

...and I thought all your "character studies" I mean "book material" was plotted for your writing....I can see her already, and the dh telling her of her "lipstick on her teeth"- I like her already, that human quality of imperfection and the fact that "he" still loves her.

At least you retain your sense of humor and it makes for a good story, Kwana! Enjoy the Christmas-y snow scene, sounds cozy.

I went out twice in my PJs to drive the hubby to the Auto Shop. I better think twice about doing that again.

LOL! You need to supply a clip when it runs! I'm glad you survived the big storm, which made news even in MN.

What's funny is sometimes when I go to the store all schlumpy, I'll put on a hat or cap like you did, as if that will somehow hide the bad hair/no makeup thing. And of course, it doesn't!

That's so funny. I had a reporter in my face this summer and I dreaded seeing it on the air because I was squinting into the sun and desperately needed to dull the shine with some powder, but lucky for me the reporter didn't choose to air my answer to the question, "What are you doing to save for your child's education?" I said, "We've got a big coin jar in the corner and we put all our change in it for our son's edumacation." I guess he didn't have a sense of humor...

You crack me up. But knowing you Kwana, lipstick on the teeth and hat hair, you still looked great.

I'm sure you were stunning!

Thanks for your comment. CCD, no there was no airbrushing. Nana called and said I looked good except the black spots on my teeth.

Melissa I love your answer to the reporter.

And no Deidra I was not stunning at all. I may post my flip cam video of the clip later in the week.

But PVE and all your are right it is good character material.

Ha ha, Benjy too is a reluctant snow walker, and it's been snowing A LOT in Paris lately.

Check out the pics of my sister's wedding in Paris, I just posted them on my blog...

Oh dear...I hate when that happens.

I'm in charge of ordering the tchotchkes for my job and when I had one too many run-ins with things in/on teeth I decided that pocket mirrors would be a lovely client hand-out. :-)
