I’m currently reading Charlaine Harris’s DEAD UNTIL DARK which HBO’s True Blood is based on. I really like her voice. It's like being in Sookie's head all the time. Luckily I don't mind and find Sookie quite funny and quirky.
I find it so interesting, reading this after enjoying the series on HBO. It’s usually the other way around for me. I'm only a few chapters in and already it's a few episodes in. Wow. Charlaine sure gave them lots of rich material to work with and this is just the first book in the series. Very cool.
I am always so in awe of creative people. It just makes me smile.
What are you currently reading?
Best,
Kwana

Oh dear my friend I haven't picked up a book in a few months! Does cooking magazines count? I have been enjoying reading everyone's blog.
I showed Jack's pictures to my honey, letting him know when the time comes this is the kind of dog I want.
Currently I have my nose in dif books. I am ruminating House of Leaves (Mark Z. Danielewski), exploring the history of art with The Story of Art (Ernst Gombrich), bedtime-storytelling Coraline (Neil Gaiman) to my godchild and diving into the past of Japan and China. And when I feel misunderstood in this world (which is often) I pick up a novel of Haruki Murakami. It's like looking in the (literary) mirror. I suspect he creeps in my bedroom at night and picks my brain (could account for my scarcrow look in the morning). I swear! I feel the urge to pick up Kokkyō no minami, taiyō no nishi tonight.
I have a book- waiting to be read during the break -
David Sedaris, "Engulfed in Flames."
oops -- the title is -
"When you are engulfed in flames"
Getting caught in in the blogs is eating up all my reading time. I read the blogs now with my morning coffee instead of finishing my current book, Sweet & Low by Rich Cohen. Probably should get myself to the gym and discipline! But I need to hurry up and finish Sweet because it will soon be time for the library book...don't know what we will get yet.... have a super day, Kwana!! Give Jack a hug from the Alaskan pack.
I am also reading this book (re-reading it actually). After watching the series it made me hungry (vampire humor), to read about Sookie and Bill again.
You are the only one I have heard of who is watching the series before reading the books. I love this series. (of books!) Harris really is such a good writer. Glad to hear you like it. I think it gets stronger and stronger, though the very last, I think #8, was the first that was sub-par.
Oh Joyce I hope I have not started trouble in your house.
Great list Nose in Books.
Thanks PVE.
Thanks Ina. I know what you mean about the logs taking up your time.
I'm glad we're on the same page Miss Pride.
Carolyn, this is so backwards for me but I'm finding it interesting.
What a wonderful blog you have here. I've enjoyed reading some of your posts. Your little Jack is adorable! About the weight-loss thing. Just keep trying! I know your struggles. I used to be the itty bitty thing and now . . . let's just say I've joined Curves to help me in my weight loss adventure.
Nancy
My husband is a writer too!
Thank you for adding me to your blog roll! As you may have guessed from my entry about Regency "bad boys," I am an avid historical romance reader. I just started The Rogue and the Rival by Maya Rodale. I am only in the first chapter, but anticipate a long night. I don't think I'll be able to put this one down!
Thanks so much Nancy for your kind words and encouragement. Love your blog too.
Sarah, I haven't read Maya's book but I sure hope to.
