At Last

Welcome President And Mrs. Obama!

And what a welcome it was. Yesterday was all I dreamed it would be and more. A day full of joy and emotion. I was so happy to be able to share it with my family. The sweet call from the DH right before Barack took the oath made my day.

The president’s inauguration speech was a call to arms for all of us that could not be ignored. I loved it when he said it was time to put away childish things. Amen. Time to grow up everybody. Stop being petty, put childish differences aside and do what you have to do for what is right.

And how happy am I that fashion is BACK! Michelle hit it out of the park. I thought she was so beautiful in her Isabel Toledo walking suit. That golden color out shined everyone. And the woman can even accessorize with color well. She may even get this New Yorker in color looking that good. Maybe.

And her white Jason Wu ball gown was ethereal.

She was floating as they danced to At Last sung by Beyonce at the Neighborhood Ball. This had to be the most romantic presidential dance yet. A collective Aww… heard around the world. With the champagne flowing in my house I had to get up and dance too, pulling the DH and the DS to dance with me. I could not contain my glee and the Dear Son could not stop laughing at me. Oh well.

The hard work is ahead in so many ways but I’m feeling so inspired. How about you? I hope I'm still a little giddy when I go back to regularly scheduled posts.

Best,
Kwana

P.S. What to keep the good times rolling? Check out this video thanks to Sula by Will. I. Am. Thanks Sula!

President Obama is an inspiring man. His sincerely stated goals for our nation will bring forth much needed change. And I look forward to watching the girls grow up in the White House. PS loved Mrs. O's green gloves!!

Glad you liked the video. It came out the morning after the election and was sort of my soundtrack to the day after. Jubilant! a new day. :)

I loved watching the balls last night. I don't think I would ever get tired of watching our President (wow that feels great to write) and our First Lady dance to At Last! What a great end to a wonderful, proud day.

Yesterday was an AMAZING day!!! I cried, cheered, laughed, and loved. I'm so in love with our new leaders and their families. The President and First Lady were beyond adorable last night. I love that you and DH got up and danced with them. Too cute!!! Here's hoping the happiness hangover carries on to our society and we can be better people because of all of this! = )

People used to say "well, W is someone you can go have a beer with."

I don't like beer so much, but a simple glass of wine on my patio with friends seems to work. And I think the Obamas would be lovely to have that wine with.

That's the difference - they are not elitist - they are a real couple that is accessible to a lot of other hard-working people in this country.

Love Michelle's style but can we say how happy I am that those little girls look like little girls - fun and classy? Amen. Please let the trends begin.

He delivered a great speech. And I'm sure I haven't been the first to say that our new First Lady is looking like the Jackie O. of our generation. So stylish, she's even getting hold of the white house. There won't be any design snoot in there! Can't wait to see.

So amazing you were able to share this with your family. A lot of tears of joy were shed, I'm sure.

xoxo

I think the part I loved most was seeing the First couple dancing together. You can really tell they love each other. America needs more love. So beautiful.

Did you see the photo of President Obama sitting behind the desk in the Oval Office? I never thought about it before (too young I guess) but WOW, what a feeling that must have been, to sit in that chair for the first time...eight years from now he may wish he'd never even seen the damn chair. lol
