This is soooo Major!

Now you all know me and know I don't go that deep, but this just weighed on my heart and it's my blog, so hey, I'm posting it here. If you disagree fine, I'll still love you tomorrow and we'll still have Top Chef in the morning!

Today, Barack Obama gave one of the most important speeches in at least my lifetime and certainly in my children's lifetime. He dealt with a subject that not only touched me as a black woman of many mixed races, but should touch people of all races in this country. The video is long, but please watch and really consider your hearts. In the end one thing I know for sure is that we are essentially all the same at our core. Make it work, Barack! And thank you, all my dear true and new friends.

I love this man. I have taught my two-year-old to say his name...I am going to go listen right now...

I sat and watched it live today. It was one of the best political speeches I think I've ever heard. I hope people will quit looking for the "swift boat" this year and open their ears, minds, and hearts to the true message he gave.

Thanks for posting about this, kwana. I read the text of the speech earlier today and found myself getting choked up. Is it too much to hope for that we might be able to have a Pres who GETS it? Who treats us like intelligent thinking adults and who raises the level of discourse?

I don't know. But I do know that I want my future mixed race children (who oddly enough would have a white American mother (me) and an African father (DBF)) to be able to grow up in a country where this man could be President.

I agree, this was an extraordinary speech. He wonderfully articulated his experiences and made them universal.

I watched this yesterday at work. I work at NBC :)
And I have to say he is a very powerful speaker. I seriously am thinking of voting for him. Hopefully he will win the Democratic nomination.
When he mentioned about the woman who lost her mother to cancer and the old man who was supporting Obama because of her, my eyes became very watery.

I'm not American but I see how Obama affects his countrymen. I also see "change" in the way he perceives things. I think he'll be good for America -but of course many will disagree with me too.

Thanks for visitng Verb.
