While in Anthro world last week I came across a couple of delightful books that I really want for my go to library and one of them was this little gem: How to Be Lovely: The Audrey Hepburn Way of Life. Hence the title of today’s post WWAD (What Would Audrey Do?)
I’m a huge Audrey fan. Always and admirer of her style and grace. Funny Face is one of my all time favorite movies along with My Fair Lady. I even have a My Fair Lady Barbie done of in that dress from the races. Just to die for and we won’t get into the emotion from Breakfast at Tiffany’s. “Cat!”
They just don’t make stars like that anymore.
Here’s the synopsis from How to Be Lovely:
On many occasions, she was approached to pen her autobiography, the definitive book of Audrey Hepburn, yet she never agreed. A beloved icon who found success as an actress, a mother and an humanitarian, Audrey Hepburn perfected the art of gracious living.
More philosophy than biography, How to Be Lovely revisits the many interviews Audrey gave over the years, allowing us to hear her voice directly on universal topics of concern to women the world over: careers, love lives, motherhood and relationships. Enhanced by rarely seen photographs, behind-the-scenes stories, and insights from the friends who knew her well, How to Be Lovely uncovers the real Audrey, in her own words.
While she would have been the last to say so, Audrey Hepburn was an expert in the art of being a woman. How to Be Lovely imparts whatever wisdom and insight she found along the way to the millions who grew up, or will grow up, wanting to be just like her.
Published to coincide with Audrey Hepburn’s would-be seventy-fifth birthday, How to Be Lovely offers a rare glimpse into the woman behind the mystique and the definitive guide to living genuinely with glamour and grace.

Who are some of your favorite stars from the past?
Have a happy Monday!

Thanks for blogging about Audrey Hepburn. Both of my daughters adored her and her movies. My oldest daughter has a birthday coming up so this may be a great gift for her.
Gosh I'd love to have my moment when I get to dress in long black gloves and a svelte dress to match. I'd love for that to be my reality!
Like you, I absolutely adore Audrey Hepburn. Her face, her grace, her charm, her humility despite it all.
I just watched Roman Holiday yesterday! Great movie. If you haven't seen it, you should. It was the movie that really made Audrey a star.
I spotted that book (in Anthro) and had to take a look.
Have you seen Audrey's site, with the fab bags?
Can't think of anyone right now except for Audrey. Oh, Kathryn Hepburn has always been one of my favorites. Very nice post!
I've always loved Audrey!
One of my faves is Paul Newman. Not one of his films is bad. As for Audrey, can you believe I haven't seen one of her movies? I need to visit NetFlix quick.
LOL! Looks like an intriguing book! (sometimes, when I'm tempted to do something dumb, I ask myself "Can you picture Audrey Hepburn doing this?" and it usually stops me. And I have a "Breakfast at Tiffany's Barbie!!)
Audrey had a lot of class and style, for sure. I agree that most starts today cannot hold a candle to her. Have a great week, Kwana!
Fun post today Kwana! I thought she was so elegant. Favorite stars from the past for me: Katherine Hepburn, Doris Day, Cicely Tyson, Bob Hope....
Good point on Paul Neuman, Adrienne S.
I'm also a huge Audrey fan and snapped up that book the moment it came out. My favorite Audrey movie is Sabrina. I even have it loaded on my iPhone.
Hmmm, I think my favorite star of from the past is bad ass Pam Grier circa 1970s.
Thanks for all the great comments. Now I want to rewatch all the Audrey movies!
Just love love Audrey. That poster pic has been one of my all-time faves from Breakfast at Tiffany's. I would love to look that sophisticated in a little black dress...
LOVE LOVE LOVE Audrey Hepburn... she is my FAVORITE!!!
Thanks Jax and FiFi. She was just class.
